Sculpture

This year, Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary features some of the best works of contemporary sculpture. Among them are Arturo Montoto Echevarría’s bronze head of kale, Wang Keping’s abstract fluid figures, Idan Zareski’s bigfooted “Whistler,” and Gil Bruvel’s bear brick made from painted wooden sticks. The works by Fernando Botero, a Colombian artist known for his signature inflated figures, are represented by several galleries.

Hyper-Realistic Painting

Yigal Ozeri stands out with his hyper-realistic oil portraits of a young woman in a field of rye. One can easily mistake them for photographs at first. But once inspected up close, they reveal the masterful technique Ozeri perfected over the years.

Pop Art

Pop art has definitely stolen the show this year. From works by people who stood at the cradle of the genre, such as Keith Haring and Andy Warhol, to pieces by contemporary artists, such as Ai Madonna and Buff Monster, the exhibition space represents a glorious cacophony of cultural references, bold shapes, and vibrant colors.

Abstract Expressionism

It is impossible to find an American art fair that does not feature Abstract Expressionism, and for a good reason. After all, this genre was born and perfected in the US. A piece titled “Mysteries: Costa del Sol” is a great example of that. Kenneth Noland, its creator, has achieved the perfect symbiosis between shape and color, taking it to a completely different level of mastery.

Street Art

Street art is not often seen at art fairs. However, certain artists have found a way to display their works in exhibition spaces without compromising their artistic vision. Whimsical and humorous pieces by Hijack, a master of visual illusions, have fitted right in at PBM+C, alongside another American street artist, Kai, who is famous for his iconic stick-figure character.
