Vol. 4: “Geometry of Creation: Analysis of Anti-Rhythmic Structures,” the largest-scale digital art exhibition ever held in Iran, opened its doors to all creatives and digital art appreciators on September 27 at E1 Art Gallery in Tehran, Iran. The project is organized and carefully curated by Ramin Saeidian and Mohammad Ali Famori, both talented artists and researchers in the contemporary art field. The exhibition unites 44 video artists – 23 from Iran and 21 from 12 other countries – on a single platform that promotes digital art in Iran and far beyond its borders. The show is on view at E1 Art Gallery until October 11, 2024.

The exhibition’s stylistic choices are dominated by black-and-white esthetics, with an explicit focus on glitch and fractal art. The color selection is intentional, meant to strip the exhibited artwork of decorative elements for the sake of getting to the core essence of art.

Fractal art also deserves a separate word in the framework of the exhibition’s idea. According to the organizers, the choice was made for fractals because of their widespread occurrence in math and various natural objects, as well as their intriguing regularity that withstands disruption and decomposition. Thus, in the vision of Famori and Saeidian, fractal art can give a unique visual representation of life dynamics, with the forces of chaos and order entering an intricate interplay in the presented video art pieces.

The Hard Work Behind the “Geometry of Creation” Exhibition

As Mohammad Ali Famori shared at the exhibition’s opening, Vol. 4: “Geometry of Creation: Analysis of Anti-Rhythmic Structures” is a product of lengthy and challenging two-year work. The curators of the show were determined to organize a large-scale exhibition with an international artist presence to promote video art in Iran and engage more audiences in educational and enlightenment activities. They meticulously compiled the exhibition’s lineup to give an exhaustive representation of generative coding and videography in the contemporary glitch art sphere.

Platform 101’s Agenda

The “Geometry of Creation” exhibition is the fourth edition of Platform 101’s audacious projects dedicated to glitch art. Platform 101 is also actively engaged in international art activities and events. For example, earlier this year, the institution, in collaboration with Glitch.art.br, released an e-book dedicated to the Glitch.art.br International Online Exhibition 2023. Both Ramin Saeidian and Mohammad Ali Famori are fascinated by the potential of visual language exploration through the prism of glitch art, so they expand their outreach and help both seasoned and newbie creatives gain better visibility in the national and international contemporary art market.
