The Second Edition of Watches&Wonders 2014 Watch Exhibition
In Hong Kong, during September 30 – October 2, 2014, the second edition of Watches&Wonders 2014 Watch Exhibition opened its doors. The exhibition was organized by the foremost Fine Watch Maisons in Asia as a leading event to admire thousands of watch collectors passionate about exquisitely crafted high end watches. A dazzling variety of designer watches from the latest luxury watch collections delighted collectors and visitors from Asian region and all over the world during these four days.
Fabienne Lupo, the Chairwoman and Managing Director of the Geneva-based Foundation for Fine Watchmaking noticed that there was a plenty of nice surprises in store to present. About 16,000 visitors, and 800 journalists took part in this unique exhibition. 13 European luxury Maisons shared their passion and knowledge of the noble craft of creating fine watches. These 13 famous watchmakers took part in this exciting event: Audemars Piguet, Richard Mille, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Piaget, Montblanc, IWC, A.Lange & Söhne, Officine Panerai, Baume & Mercier, Cartier, Roger Dubuis, Vacheron Constantin and Van Cleef & Arpels. Some of the watchmakers presented their newest watches and the genius mechanisms, while some showed their old watch models that were recently presented in SIHH. Panerai, for example, presented its new astonishing watch collection consisting of two Radiomir models and the Luminor luxury watch. Vacheron Constantin showed its three unique high end watches, designed to demonstrate the beauty of wildlife, and depicted the golden miniature figures of animals and birds on the watch’s plate. The thinnest skeletonized watch movement in the world was presented in the Altiplano designer watch collection from the Piaget watchmaker.
As some of the visitors noted, the Watches&Wonders Exhibition became more than just the extension of the Geneve SIHH events and grew to a separate and independent outstanding event. What could be highlighted as a very important, is that today, the new noticeable Asian partner appeared in the world of high end fashion. The Hong Kong Exhibition performed events more open and audacious than Genève and Basel, and focused on the end customer. This feature of the Hong Kong Watches&Wonders 2014 Watch Exhibition was the main distinguishing point that distinguishes it from the European watch events, as some visitors noticed. For example, SIHH is a B2B exhibition mostly, which means that average customers do not get involved into the watch event. The Hong Kong Watches&Wonders exhibition gave the opportunity for every watch collector to be welcomed for presentations, special events, or invitations to dinners. The second edition of Watches&Wonders 2014 was a rare opportunity for visitors and collectors to see the latest high-end watches and to interact with the luxury watch creators in an exclusive close format. The Hong Kong Watches&Wonders 2014 Watch Exhibition made a huge impact into development of cooperation between collectors and watchmakers, and cultivated the positive exchange of European and Asian cultures.
