A Peek into the Art World of Frank Chinea Inguanzo
The art world is full of images and hidden symbols. Sometimes, we cannot size up the whole depth of an artwork because we do not see the central idea that the artist wishes to convey. This is the case for many painting genres, but the realm of Abstract Expressionism is by far the most dependent and susceptible among them. When it comes to creating an authentic scenario for the painting and filling it with expressionistic entities, Frank Chinea Inguanzo is a true master. His approach is dramatic; his art is visceral.
The mystical art world of Frank Chinea Inguanzo
Frank Chinea Inguanzo is a contemporary Miami-based artist born in 1952 in Sancti Spiritus, Cuba. After emigration to the United States in 1962, he settled in Little Havana in Miami where he has been living and working since then. Frank Chinea sees his life as one big source of inspiration as he mixes personal experience from the outer world with his innermost thoughts and worries. As a result, we have quite an individualistic, self-centered, and technically well-developed approach to Expressionism, which certainly deserves attention.
It is also impossible not to mention that many of Frank Chinea’s paintings are inspired by late neo-romanticism of the 21st century. Focused on the apocalyptic theme, where a heroic figure stands amid the abyssal dark world, his works deal with the glum reality and boisterous soul of the artist at the same time. His mystical paintings are distinguished by the dark-hued environment and never-ending shadows with faces. Why shadows? The reason is that Frank Chinea’s art world is the projection of his subconsciousness. What we are looking at makes us feel as if we are wandering within the dream, where we are spectators and the artist is a creator. Totally worth it!
