Culturally Arts Collective is a non-profit entity that actively promotes artists from all corners of the globe and increases their visibility by means of digitalizing their artwork and giving them global outreach. “Fragments of Now” by Marina Chisty is a new virtual show presented by Culturally Arts Collective, which is already on view at the Milostka Center for Exhibitions. Here is what you need to know about the exhibition and the artist behind it.

Meet Marina Chisty

A Russian-born artist, Marina lives and works in New York. She earned an MA degree in Economics from Fordham University and is currently pursuing an MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The creative style of Chisty has been molded by multiple influences, from contemporary Abstractionism to New Materialism to Eastern philosophy. As a result of her creative development, the artist has adopted a process-oriented perspective to art creation, which enables her to enter the intricate process of collaboration with visual materials.

Chisty frequently chooses geological forms and eroded surfaces as themes for her art. According to the artist, she is fascinated by the exploration of the fragile balance between fluidity and form, which she can interrogate as her chosen materials come into an interplay with the canvas. Marina Chisty’s works have been featured at many American and international exhibitions and have gained her wide recognition in the global art community.

Marina Chisty’s Unique Visual Language and Method

Chisty positions herself as a painter of transformation. The artist’s choice of natural materials, such as charcoal, pigment, and water, is also predetermined by her desire to relinquish control and observe the slow emergence of creative forms on canvas.

In her work, Marina Chisty offers a unique journey across liminal spaces by examining the processes of natural change, evolution, and decay. “Fragments of Now” is her personal statement about the accumulation of subtle natural shifts that are often not perceived at a sensory level but affect the millennia of human experience.
