Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon 3 Jubilee Watch

Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon 3 Jubilee Watch

Jaeger-LeCoultre has a bunch of stylish high end luxury watches on display at SIHH 2013. Among them, the most awe inspiring one is the modified version of the popular Gyrotourbillon. Avid watch lovers who always vouch for this type of watches may not look at this particular version with love. They are likely to be looking forward to a more modern version of the Gyrotourbillon. But, Jaeger-LeCoultre has opted to go back to its roots and opted for a classic design. At the same time, it does have a few interesting new elements associated with it.

Why did Jaeger-LeCoultre include the term jubilee in to the name? Typically, this term is used to denote anniversary of certain events. In this case, the watchmaker did not specify any particular event or anniversary. But, this year is the 180th birth year of the watchmaker who started its operations in the year 1833. Did they mean this anniversary by the inclusion of the term jubilee? I am not sure about it.

As the watchmaker is known to primarily create limited edition watches, this one is also likely to follow that tradition. In the coming years, they will modify the model with the introduction of diamonds and other precious stones to add to its attractiveness.

Is this the first time that Jaeger-LeCoultre comes up with a jubilee watch collection? No, they have already released a few other watches with the name jubilee added to them. In most of those cases, those classic designs were created for honoring the legendary watchmaker Antoine LeCoultre.

If you have the financial ability to purchase this expensive watch, that would add to your collection of exquisite watches. Of course, you would end up seeing a significant reduction in your bank balance.

75 pieces of Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon 3 Jubilee limited edition watch would be produced in platinum. As is the habit of the watchmaker, various other versions in other precious metals would arrive later. The watch is appropriately cut at 43.5 mm diameter and 15.5 mm in thickness. The watchmaker terms the material used for creating the watch as ‘extra-white platinum.’ The strap as well as the deployant is crafted with the comfort of the user given due importance. They have used almost 100 pieces for the creation of the deployant itself. This would in turn give the watch strap the ability to adjust with the weather conditions, weight gain or loss etc. and fit perfectly on your wrists.

Eric Coudray, a brilliant French watchmaker working for Jaeger-LeCoultre came up with the original gyrotourbillon. The craftsmanship and engineering acumen of this watchmaker is second to none, and have given a lot of contributions to horology in his way. He created this tourbillon and gave it the appearance of a gyroscope. On a lighter note, his unkempt looks are the complete opposite of the finesse of this watch!

The watch movement is a Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 176. The strap is made from alligator leather. It is water resistant up to 5 bars.
