Auctions at Showplace is organizing its first New York City Estate Auction in 2025 to treat avid collectors to a carefully chosen set of 280 lots. You can find fine art from many established artists here, as well as ceramics, jewelry, and exclusive furniture items. The live bidding begins on January 23, while a preview is available at 36-01 35th Street, Astoria, NY 11106, on January 20-22.

Lot #1: Hunt Slonem, “Picul,” Oil on Canvas

Estimate: $8,000 – $12,000

This 1991 oil painting (featured image) can become a great supplement to any contemporary art collection, especially among fans of the post-Cubist abstraction style of Hunt Slonem. It is signed, titled, numbered, and dated. The lot also has a Certificate of Authenticity from Hunt Slonem Studio.

Lot #98: Michele Gordigiani, “A Wistful Look,” Oil on Canvas

Michele Gordigiani was a famous 19th-century representative of the European realist painting school. “A Wistful Look” is a 39″ x 30.5″ oil painting by the Italian master, which comes in a giltwood frame. The painting is signed in the lower left corner.
