Serge Lis Eliseev was born in 1954 in the small coastal town of Aniva on Sakhalin Island. When he was a child, his family moved to St. Petersburg, the cultural capital of Russia that would become his home for many years. A chemist engineer by occupation, Serge Lis Eliseev tried his hand at music, martial arts, and customs clearance at different periods of his life, until one day he found a camera. Black-and-white photography became his first step toward the fascinating world of visual art.

The Russian artist started as a freelance photographer, but then, in 2015, he tried to color his photographs with acrylic and aniline dyes. The new experiment allowed Eliseev to see the untapped potential of visual art and oil painting in particular.

Today, Serge Lis Eliseev is an independent self-represented artist, for whom the process of creation is as free and unrestricted as the flow of water. His free-spirited art is not only a collection of aesthetic variables but also a reflection of his mindset, as the artist draws inspiration from major social events and cataclysms.

Serge Lis Eliseev is a member of several significant art organizations, including the Saint Petersburg Union of Artists and the Baltic School of the National Centre of Photography in Russia. He has exhibited his works at numerous solo and group exhibitions, including SAM Fair 2019 and Art Russia Fair 2020. Eliseev’s artworks are held in many public and private collections in Russia, Spain, Germany, Norway, and the US.
