British horologist George Graham, who became known as the “father of the chronograph” centuries ago, is still remembered today for his remarkable mechanical achievements. His name is carried on through the modern-day watchmakers at Graham. This company is known for creating watches with exquisite machinery and chic new designs. One of the firm’s latest timepieces is the Chronofighter GMT Steel Style. This watch has a very avant-garde style that fuses the essence of Graham’s past works.

The movement in this watch is the Calibre G1733, automatic bi-compax chronograph. It vibrates 28,800 times in an hour, making the power reserve last up to 48 hours. At the 12 o’clock, 3 o’clock, and 9 o’clock positions, there is a large date window, a counter for small seconds, and a half-hour counter, respectively. The price of this model ranges anywhere from just under $8,000 to over $11,000.

The dial is black, the better to set off the brilliant riot of colors on the bezel and hands (colors vary from one watch to the next). The bezel is fixed, made of aluminum or steel and sapphire crystal and has the GMT scale on it, which makes it a handy watch to wear while traveling. The crystal front of the watch is a dome of anti-reflective sapphire. As you might have guessed, the caseback is made of stainless steel.  With a 47 millimeter diameter, the watch is quite large, making its modern, chic design even more striking. The strap is black rubber or alligator skin and has a stainless steel buckle that really stands out.

In addition to all of these features, the watch is water resistant up to 100 meters. It contains 28 jewels that heighten its appeal and confirm that it is indeed a luxury to own. The Chronofighter GMT Steel Style is a wonderful addition, or even a start, to any collection of fine watches.
