Longines
Longines is a reputable and well known Swiss watchmaking company. Their history began in 1832 with Auguste Agassiz who created a partnership with a watchmaking comptoir in Saint-Imier. Eventually he took over complete ownership of the company and named it Agassiz & Compagni. The company eventually relocated to a place called Les Longines which literally means long meadows. They purchased an old mill with hopes of transforming it into a manufacturing site for their watches.
During the First World War, Longines, like many other watchmaking brands, had to suspend production of wristwatches. In order to save their company and employees they began producing compasses for use during the war. Longines has always been incredibly strategic and up to date in order to keep their brand going strong. After the war they created a watch with an alarm device which was considered incredibly useful. Now Longines is owned by Swatch, the largest watchmaking company in the world. In 2009 Longines finally launched a line dedicated to women. It is called PrimaLuna and offers feminine designs that are made to fit perfectly on the female wrist.
Longines creates luxurious wristwatches that are affordable. They provide four different categories of watch styles. They are Elegance, Watchmaking Tradition, Sport, and Heritage. This allows customers to easily find a model that fits their style. For example, if you are seeking a sporty wristwatch you would simply go to the Sport collection which offers to models; the HydroConquest and the Conquest. The Watchmaking Tradition category offers classic designs that anyone could appreciate. There are many color and material combinations available so everyone can find their perfect watch. Prices start in the $1,000 range.
