The world of science and art has always been interconnected, from artists inducing chemical reactions to create new artistic techniques to scientists rediscovering them centuries later. Art conservers constantly work on finding a new way to preserve works of art for future generations, and finding out their make-up is one way of doing that. A recent scan of the famous Rembrandt piece, The Night Watch, has revealed traces of a technique that has never been seen before.

According to Nina Luna, an artist whose work is currently exhibited at the Milostka Center for Exhibitions at Culturally Arts Collective, a canvas “is the birthplace of creation.” The themes of life, birth, and rebirth come through in each and single one of Luna’s pieces. Her paintings are vibrant and joyful, but what drew her to art in the first place is the complete opposite of that.

Like any contemporary art fair, SCOPE Art Show 2023 has a fair share of artworks aimed to challenge societal norms and prejudice and inspire change. Mixed-media recycled art pieces by the famous street artist and activist Bordalo II definitely fall into that category.

SCOPE Art Show is one of the biggest art fairs in the world. Its first edition was held in New York with only 28 featured galleries, in stark contrast to SCOPE Miami Beach 2023, which exhibits over 150 participants. Many valuable works by Black artists from the collection of the award-winning singer Alicia Keys and the producer Kasseem “Swizz Beatz” Dean will be presented to the public in February 2024. The pieces will be shown at the Brooklyn Museum in New York as part of the exhibition titled Giants: Art from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys.

On November 21, 2023, an exhibition of works by the world-renowned artist Wassily Kandinsky opened in the gorgeous gallery hall of Torre dos Clérigos, a historical church in Porto, Portugal. “Kandinsky: The Bauhaus Album Rediscovered” features 15 original artworks from the sketchbook of one of the most influential modernist artists.
