The 2025 Banksy Mural Relocation Project Supervised by Fine Art Shippers
Street art is much more vulnerable to damage than art stored in museums and specialized storage facilities. The disastrous impacts range from environmental factors to state erasure to vandalism, thus dooming many world-famous murals to short-lived popularity. This is why some of the Banksy murals, previously located in public spaces, were relocated to ensure their safety and protection. Here is a story of the recent Banksy mural relocation from New York to Connecticut, a challenging project supervised by Fine Art Shippers last December.
Banksy Mural Relocation Project 2025
Banksy’s art enjoys high popularity across the globe, with his murals quickly becoming the sites of pilgrimage by locals and international visitors. Yet, time is remorseless to street art, and some of Banksy’s murals start deteriorating without proper conservation. These trends have made art owners seek better protection for Banksy’s legacy by transferring his art to safer places.
The “Tagging Robot” mural was identified in Coney Island, Brooklyn, in 2013. It became a result of Banksy’s visit to New York, along with “Ghetto 4 Life” that had been transported from the Bronx to Bridgeport in 2024. The mural features a robot with a can of spray paint, painting a barcode on the wall. Though opinions on the meaning and symbolism of the mural differ, many view this artwork as a hallmark of the changing era and rising power of machines and AI.
Fine Art Shippers was invited to collaborate with Chesakl, the company’s long-standing partner in large-scale art transportation. The 2025 Banksy mural relocation became the third project they undertook together, with previous mural relocations successfully completed in 2019 and 2024. Fine Art Shippers performed the project’s preliminary estimate and planning, oversaw the process of safe mural extraction, and completed its protective packaging for further transportation to the new location in Bridgeport, CT.
Previous Banksy Wall Relocation Projects by Fine Art Shippers
The “Tagging Robot” relocation became the third Banksy project in the portfolio of Fine Art Shippers. In 2024, the company also organized the restoration and conservation of “Ghetto 4 Life,” performed by SOLONOI, thus ensuring the longevity of Banksy’s mural and contributing to global art heritage preservation. The 2025 relocation project was another milestone for the Fine Art Shippers team, making them the only company that participated in the relocation of Banksy murals three times.
