Feral File’s Righteous Mission: Bringing Digital Art to Every Home

Both digital art and the digitalized forms of traditional fine art are the new, rising trend in the global art industry. On the one hand, digital forms of art exist on their own as a distinct, innovative art method and movement. On the other hand, many projects and initiatives are emerging to bring classical, high-end art closer to the masses of people via digitalization.

At the heart of this approach is a new democratized approach that presupposes universal access to the global art heritage of humanity. One of such projects is Feral File, an online platform founded in 2020 and driven by a mission to beam digital artworks through smart TVs and mobile devices, giving every person an opportunity to admire eternal art from the comfort of their homes.

Art Access: Privilege or Basic Human Right?

Feral File is a project that brings the issue of art accessibility to the forefront of public attention and critical scrutiny. Many exclusive works of art are sold at closed auctions and land in rich people’s private collections, while others are available for personal viewing only in particular museums and galleries. These complexities distance ordinary people from fine art and pose challenges for art appreciation. Art fans have to travel long distances to see Old Masters and embrace contemporary art, which has to change, according to Feral File’s creators.

Digital Art by Subscription: A New Concept

The new concept offered by Feral File is digital art by subscription. The online platform offers a downloadable app named “Daily” to all interested users, which can be installed on a smart TV set or a mobile device. After registration, the user can view one artwork from the app’s collection of 16,000 digitalized art objects for the entire day, and the painting on display changes the next day.

The project also presupposes a paid membership plan, which gives users access to 45 digital exhibitions. The founders of Feral File believe that such exposure to artworks at the convenience of one’s smart device is a highly attractive service of simplified access to art and the personalization of art viewing preferences and collections.

The platform has established a broad network of collaborations with art institutions, such as MoMA, and has partnered with 200+ contemporary creatives, including digital artists, to set up its collection of art. This way, every art connoisseur will obtain an opportunity to admire an exquisite artwork on the wall of their living room or in the office.
