The fall season is always active in the European art landscape, with many events, festivals, and art fairs attracting global audiences. Next week, an audacious art event starts in the Italian city of Salerno, turning it into a cultural hub for art connoisseurs and creatives. The Salerno Biennale of Contemporary Art will open its doors on October 18, 2025, and will run through November 2, 2025.

About the Salerno Biennale of Contemporary Art

The Salerno Biennale of Contemporary Art (Biennale d’Arte Contemporanea di Salerno), often referred to as The B.A.C.S., is a recurring international exhibition that has been held in Salerno since 2014. It was founded by Giuseppe Gorga and Olga Marciano as an experimental platform fostering a dialogue about the intersections of art and technology. Giuseppe Gorga’s team curates the organization of all of The B.A.C.S. editions, which are held in Palazzo Fruscione.

The 2025 Biennale is organized in partnership with the Italian Ravello Foundation, Professor Rino Cuccurullo, Taimeless Art Gallery, Miart Gallery, Biganti Gallery, and Galleria Caribè, among other contributors.

This year’s B.A.C.S. is the sixth edition of the art event, targeting a new topic in the field of technological innovations in the art field. Its eloquent title, “A.I. vs. A.I. – Artificial Intelligence vs. Artistic Intelligence,” reflects the commonplace public concerns about the dangers of machines for human creativity. To ensure a global dialogue on these issues, the Biennale welcomes creatives from all parts of the globe, including Europe, the Americas, Africa, Australia, and Asia.

The Biennale of Contemporary Art in Salerno will start with Enza Monetti’s “Messenger” performance, targeting a creative representation of separating and uniting matter. An artist talk by Professor Gennaro Cuccurullo, “AI-ART,” will examine the interaction of music, images, words, and innovative AI algorithms in the contemporary creative space. Professor Sergio Curtacci is expected to present his new book, “Museums in Evolution: New Digital Frontiers,” to help attendees explore innovation in the museum industry. The President of the 2025 Biennale Prize Jury is the Sicilian artist Lorenzo Chinnici.

The B.A.C.S. 2025 is planned under the motto of fostering a global art community, promoting international talent and originality to global audiences. The Award Ceremony is scheduled for October 25, 2025, giving all participants some time to exchange opinions, review each other’s fruits of creative labor, and engage in professional networking.
