Faconnable was founded in 1950 in the city of Nice, France, to manufacture clothing for men and women. The company was managed by Jean Goldberg, who decided to open a small tailor shop where he offered exclusive designs and thus earned a reputation for quality and craftsmanship. He was very successful and by 1958 he was dressing the Hollywood stars for the annual Cannes Film Festival with the help of his son Albert.  Together they created tuxedos and suits for that night.

Three years later, Albert Goldberg took over the tailoring business, launching his own clothing line which he called Faconnable.  It was a combination of classic English style and Italian elegance. In 1973 he opened his first boutique in Monte Carlo, followed by three more located in southern France: in Marseille, Lyon and Cannes.

In 1987, in order to expand the collection, Faconnable included accessories such as leather wallets and fine hand-sewn cigarette cases, impacting the market with their smart casual style. In 1988 the Faconnable brand associated with Nordstrom, leading to its distribution in Nordstrom U.S.

In 1989, Faconnable launched its first collection of watches. Featuring Swiss tradition with extraordinary finishes, they became one of the public’s favorite items. The first U.S. boutique opened in 1993, and was located on New York’s Fifth Avenue.  In 2000, partners Jean Pierre Benaym and Albert Goldberg sold the brand to Nordstrom Inc, maintaining their ‘design and creation’ operations in Nice.

The New York store facilities were taken to Rockeffeller Center in 2003. A private group named M1, acquired Faconnable from Nordstrom Inc. for $ 210 million.

In addition to watches, Faconnable also offers a variety of accessories for both men and women. Striped ties, polo shirts with logos, shoes, cologne, umbrellas, suits and coats are part of the genuine creations from this company which, over time, has been entirely devoted to look after every detail to provide the highest quality and thus remain as a favorite.
Faconnable now has 24 stores in France, 42 around the world, and is available in more than 500 department stores, offering the public quality and authenticity in each piece.

It is interesting to note that in Colombia, where Faconnable recently opened a store, several TV hosts have selected clothes from this brand to wear during their broadcasts.

Undoubtedly, Faconnable watches have earned a privileged position in this demanding industry, offering a system of interchangeable straps, princess-cut diamond needles, interchangeable gemstones, integrated crowns and innovative combination of steel and new materials. These are reasons enough to fall in love with the many designs Faconnable has to offer.
