New Paintings by Vian Borchert Are Now on View at Lichtundfire
Purposefully abstract but calculated, carefully constructed, and unafraid of being destroyed — these are, perhaps, the best terms to describe “REFRACTURE – Visual Realignment,” a new exhibition at the New York-based gallery Lichtundfire. Among works by other talented artists, the exhibit features new paintings by Vian Borchert, a well-established and widely recognized expressionist painter and poet, whose art has already been displayed at many reputable galleries and museums in the US and across the world.
New Abstract Geometric Paintings by Vian Borchert
Vian Borchert’s parents — an artist-mother and a science-oriented father — had a great impact on her artistic journey. Her love for both the creative process and scientific approach, combined with her appreciation for the teachings of ancient Greek thinkers, has shaped the artist’s vision into what it is today. Borchert believes that her creative method exists at the intersection between science and visual art, which has resulted in a new series of paintings that aim to visualize this concept and give a deeper view of philosophical ideas.
Vian Borchert’s art reflects how she perceives the world around her. As a highly observant person, she strips phenomena down to their very core and looks past their physical shell. The artist’s stylistic choices are more than fitting for the way Vian Borchert approaches art. Her new artworks combine collage art and painting, manifesting her variegated experiences. The unique composition of the masterfully aligned elements expresses the deep desire to create, reconstruct, and heal.
The artist’s objective with this new series of works is to show the viewers how perspectives and angles can potentially emerge within an abstract space. Her work is simultaneously highly geometric and abstract, ordered and diverse.
The new exhibition features four paintings by Vian Borchert, each created with the use of acrylic paints and mixed media on canvas and archival paper. The colors in the pieces contrast beautifully with each other and are, in a way, reminiscent of Borchert’s earlier pieces presented at the exhibition titled “On the Road.” One might see both of these series of abstract paintings as a direct extension of the artist’s unique personality and art style.
“REFRACTURE – Visual Realignment”, which is curated by Priska Juschka, is on view at Lichtundfire at 175 Rivington Street, New York. The exhibition will run through February 25, Wednesday to Saturday, 12pm to 6pm. Be sure to visit the show and see Vian Borchert’s new abstract geometric paintings with your own eyes!
