Song of Songs: Art Project by Evgeniya Maltseva
The mystery of art lies in its conceptions. Even innermost feelings can be transformed into a masterpiece made from words and structures, images and embodiments, evocations and incarnations. In this, the adept of Russian expressionist art Evgeniya Maltseva has reached a new height by molding her ground-breaking art project titled “Song of Songs.” First introduced in 2017, “Song of Songs” represents a collection of stunning works, all distinguished by a unique artistic approach that has become the breaking point where the line between personal and interpersonal is as transparent as never before.
The art project “Song of Songs”
“Song of Songs” was born from Evgeniya Maltseva’s personal life experiences and hardships. Though the title of the project was directly inspired by one of The Five Megillot (scrolls from the Hebrew Bible), Maltseva managed to transplant the very essence of ancient wisdom into the present-day awkward reality. The main focus is on the inner turmoil and personal drama of the artist who dwells on the emotional connection and love between a man and a woman as the fundamental basement of interhuman relationships.
The entire narration is intertwined with the presence of God. Drawing inspiration from the Bible, the talented expressionist tries to answer the key questions of our existence: What is love today? Is there the purpose of a family? Why do we need relationships? The result of her work and investigation is truly impressive. To perceive and live through the messages of this amazing art collection, you should pay your own visit to the realm created by Evgeniya Maltseva, who is, without a doubt, one of the most talented contemporary Russian artists.
It is also worth noting that two sculptures from the art project “Song of Songs” – “Prayer/Ecclesiastes” and “Meditation” – were exhibited this year at Art Russia Fair in Moscow. Presented by Art-Office “Gallery FEDINI,” the works were a huge success, sinking into the minds of many visitors.
