1. “What is the point of this?”

Sometimes, art is not something easily identifiable, and many artists decide to let viewers interpret their paintings. That is why your attempt to dig into more information and details might look inappropriate.

2. “How much money do you make?”

The majority of people still believe that art cannot bring money to contemporary artists. Talking with someone you don’t know about money is not a good idea, especially when it comes to a real conversation. You should get rid of your stereotypes as soon as possible.

3. “Are you depressed or excited?”

Don’t judge a book by its cover. If a painting has a gloomy or pessimistic mood, it doesn’t necessarily mean that an artist is in a bad mood too. This question will just confuse contemporary painters.

4. “Can you teach me?”

As a rule, artists are not great teachers since their skills and abilities are either innate or developed in earlier stages of their growth. However, there are individuals who do teach art, but it is not the topic they want to discuss with a random stranger.

5. “Can you draw me?”

This childish request is, in fact, one of the most common and bothersome things you can ask an artist. First, they don’t do it for free. Second, it is impolite to start a conversation with such a phrase.
